Royal Commemoratives Exhibit at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery.
An exhibition of Royal Commemoratives to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II will be on display in the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at St. Lawrence College’s Brockville campus from May 4-June 2. This exhibition includes limited edition ceramics, autographed photographs, offical Royal event programs, personal correspondance, apparel, as well as other items of interest once belonging to or related to members of the Royal Family. This is the first time the private collection has been publically exhibited.

May 25 – Wedgewood Author’s Series

Over the years, several ships have met their fate and sunk along both sides of the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands; some carrying precious valuables and others with cargo of lesser appeal.    American author Thomas Pullyblank has put his creativity, a ship’s treasure and kernels of history together to write Napoleon’s Gold, A Legend of the Saint Lawrence River.  

Come to hear Thomas Pullyblank at the Wedgewood Retirement Resort, 15 Market Street East, Brockville, Ontario, Canada, at 3 p.m., on Friday, May 25 as Pullyblank unravels the mysterious tale of Napoleon’s Gold.  The public is invited and the event is free of charge.

Brockville’s “Shout Sister!” choir is making a “joyful noise” for Victim Services of Leeds and Grenville. May 27 – MS Walk
This year’s goal is to raise $ 35,000 for MS Research to find the cause and cure of MS.  We encourage family and friends and co-workers to form a team and come out and enjoy the day walking 6 km or 10 km. along Brockville’s beautiful waterfront.  Registration on line is encouraged at www.supercitieswalk.com and pledge sheets can be downloaded or picked up at the MS office 342-6396. Check in is at 8:30  am Sunday,May 27, at Commonwealth School, Pearl St. with Breakfast.  Warm up exercises start  the Walk at 10am.  The route is wheelchair accessible.  Refreshments and  entertainment at noon, have been provided by our sponsors and prizes have been donated by local merchants.   Prizes are announced at lunch at Commonwealth School.  To avoid line ups register on Sat May 26 at Commonwealth School between 10 am and 12noon.  Team Captains are encouraged to register their team on Saturday when there is more time to count the pledges received.  For further information call MS Office at 613- 342-6396.

June 1 – 2 Legally Blonde

Legally Blonde is a musical with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach.  The story is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name.  It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner.

June 24 – Millinery Fashion Show and Afternoon Tea
Join us on June 24 for a retrospective millinery fashion show and tea. This event will be held on the south veranda overlooking the St Lawrence River. The fashion show and talk will be presented by Norma Shephard, Founder/Director of the Mobile Millinery Museum and Costume Archive. Participants are encouraged to wear a hat and/or period costume. If you have an heirloom family hat, bring it with you so that Shephard can date it for you. 
 
Afternoon tea will be served after the talk at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tickets, including admission, are $45 for adults and $30 for children (HST included). 
 
On the day of the event, arrive early   any time between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and show your ticket at the reception desk for a tour of the house and/or the special exhibition: The Mode in Millinery 1899-1946.

July 15 - Justin’s Charity Golf Classic for Type 1 Diabetes

With all proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), this is the 2nd annual golf tournament to take place at Smuggler’s Glen Golf Resort on July 15, 2012.  Shotgun start at 2:30pm, contests and prizes.  A chance to win $1Million Dollars!
