Feb 22 – Wedgewood Authors Series
If history of the 1000 Islands is your interest, then you will not want to miss “River Views”, a book published by Potsdam, New York author Tom French. French will be presenting as part of the Wedgewood Author Series which starts a new season at 3 p.m., on Wednesday, February 22. This event will take place at the Wedgewood Retirement Resort, 15 Market Street East, Brockville, Ontario, which is free to the public, with entry off Market Street.
Feb 22 – Hot Lunches at the “Y”
Hot Lunches return every Wednesday at the YMCA of Brockville and Area, 345 Park Street, Brockville! Cost is $7.00. Take Out is available. Lunch is from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. All proceeds go to the Brockville and Area YMCA’s 2012 Annual Giving Campaign.
Feb 22 – March Break Blast, First Volunteer Session
Brockville Bicycle Ministry’s information session for all volunteers, from student assistant, master mechanic and everything in between. It’s from 5 – 6 pm at the Pier Community Outreach Centre

The Palliative Care Grief Walking Group meets every Wednesday morning behind the Brockville Arts Centre at 9:00 am. It’s for anyone experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one.

Feb 23 – Free Lecture and Tour in Celebration of Heritage Week
The site manager from New York s Sackets Harbor Battle Field Alliance, Constance Barone, will discuss the role Sackets Harbor played as the centre of American naval and military activity for the upper St. Lawrence Valley and Lake Ontario during the War of 1812. The lecture is at 10 am with the free tour at 1 pm at Fulford Place Mansion, Brockville

At the Old Train Station, 400 Railway St., Prescott with the Grenville County Historical Society & the Colonel Edward Jessup Branch United Empire Loyalists of Canada. Assisted research in both the Historical Society collection & Loyalists records. All welcome. Refreshments.

Feb 25 – 15th annual Pike Ice Fishing Derby
The Grenville Fish & Game Club’s 15th annual Pike Ice Fishing Derby is from 6 am – 4 pm at Elevator Bay (Fishing area on St. Lawrence River, Prescott Harbour to Cardina). $100 price for largest Pike in each two hour period. $50 bonus for the heaviest Pike of the day; #10 hidden weight prize for each two hour period. Live release draw – each live release receives a draw ticket.
Free Perch derby for kids (14 and under). Free fishing rod for the first 60 kids, 12 and under registered with free hot chocolate and popcorn for the children.

Feb 26 – Postcards and Pictures of Old Mallorytown
Come see high resolution images prepared by Brian Phillips of old postcards and other historic pictures. These will be projected on a large screen with an informative commentary by David Wells, local historian and author of Fact, Folklore , and Fiction: History of Mallorytown. The postcards have been provided by the noted collector Rick Carson of Brockville who has generously provided access to his extensive collection. Rick will also be attending and can provide detailed background on postcard collecting. Additional hi-res pictures of the area will also be included to show life in remarkable detail as it was 50-100 years ago.
The presentation is free at 2 pm at the Mallorytown Community Centre, but a good will offering will be appreciated to assist in local historical projects like the on-going expansion and maintenance of the Mallory Coach House and its activities.

Westminster Public School is holding Celebrity Server Night at Boston Pizza Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, 5pm – 8pm. Come join the fun, as your favourite teachers serve dinner. March 2 – Brockville Kinsmen 1st Annual Pizza Party
The Brockville Kinsmen Club is hosting their 1st annual Pizza party at St. Lawrence College Pub from 6 – 9 pm, featuring a Restaurant Pizza Cook-off. The Pizza party is an event that serves over 150 people with 8 Restaurants putting up their pizzas for the taste test. After sampling the Pizza’s there’s a Judge’s choice and people’s choice winner. Tickets are $25 each or a table of 8 for $200. Monies will be given to Palliative Care Telethon, The Harvest Sharing Food Bank and Canadian Aid for Cherynobyl.
