Gananoque’s first Citizen Police Academy has raised enough money to sponsor an athlete for the 2012 Special Olympics Ontario Province Spring Games.
They presented a cheque of $558 to the Gananoque Chapter of the Special Olympics last night.
The spring games will be held in Kingston May 31st to June 3rd.
Brockville Police warning of a new computer virus infecting PC’s in our area.
It locks people our of their computers, demanding they pay a hundred bucks and hand over credit card information.
It pops up with CSIS banner and claims you’ve broken internet laws, but the dead givaway that it’s a scam is a claim to belong to “the Canada.”
In the meantime, police are urging you to make sure your virus-scanner is working correctly and scan your computer regularly.
The young man who held up the Brockville McDonalds in April last year, will be spending nearly two more years in jail.
Christopher Massey has been sentenced to 21 more months in jail after already serving six.

OPP are asking for your help to identity a suspect who broke into a home in Edwardsburgh.
It happened back on May 3rd around 8 o’clock at night when an 18 year old man came home to find man in his bedroom.
The two got into a verbal fight before the suspect fled.
The suspect is described as:
- Approximately 6’1” in height
- 190-200 lbs
- Pear shaped body
- Blonde shaggy hair.
- Blue eyes
- Fair skin

Police are investigating after a woman was ejected from her car and died.
It happened last night around 7 on Bedford Street in Westport.
Police were called about a possible drunk driver and when they arrived, found a car in the ditch.
37 year old Moira Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.
Getting a new Brockville Police dispatch system may cost more than expected.
The Finance and Administration committee will look at a police recommendation to spend 250-thousand dollars on Motorola equipment.
That’s more than 40-thousand more than was budgeted.
The committee will also look at spending 50-grand on a detailed inspection of the railway tunnel.

Double trouble for a Brockville teen…
First, a man was caught shoplifting at the Thousand Islands Mall Saturday afternoon around 4:30.
Then, just after 10:30 Saturday night, police were called to Kensington Parkway after reports of a man stealing from vehicles.
18 year old Tyler Khant was arrested in the afternoon and charged with theft under five thousand dollars.
Then police say they found him near Kensington Parkway and arrested and charged him a second time – this time for mischief and theft.
It’s not very often you see the Mayor of Prescott dancing with the Mayor of Brockville’s wife – but you will on June 1st.
They’re one of seven couples performing in the first ever Dancing With The Stars event in support of the volunteer centre.
Frank Rocket with the volunteer centre says there will be judges there to comment, but ultimately, it’s up to you who wins.
After the couples perform, audience members can put loonies in the jar to vote for their favourite pair.
The dancers strut their stuff on Friday June 1st at the Brockville Memorial Centre.

If the five-day forecast is any indication, the warm weather is here to stay.
Environment Canada meteorologist Jeff Coulson predicts it’ll be warming up into the 20s for the rest of the month, starting this week.
But as far as rainfall goes, Coulson says they’re not expecting much more for May, which won’t help our already low water levels.
Right now, we are still under a level one water condition from the CRCA, who are asking everyone reduce their usage by about ten percent.
The New York Restaurant will be featured in an international documentary.
Radio and Television Hong Kong are coming to Brockville this week to start filming.
They’ll be interviewing Joe Lor and Valerie Mah, who are descendents of family members who opened the restaurant in the 1930′s.
The documentary is about Chinese immigrants who started eateries and laundries in Canada the late 19th Century, which is something the Lor family was heavily involved in.
